Review of Drive Angry (2011) by Ryan S — 03 Jun 2012
I know I'm going to catch a lot of hell for this, but yeah, I enjoyed this one. I love the whole grindhouse formula that seems to be making a comeback nowadays. The violence is over the top, there's gratuitous foul language, and some nudity, of course, but then you've also got some impressive special effects, a cool story, some damn good performances from Amber Heard and Billy Burke, and a badass villain in the form of The Accountant, played beautifully in a scene-stealing performance from William Fichtner.
Yeah, Nicolas Cage is still not the best actor, and yeah it gets a little contrived at places, but just like "300", if you're willing to turn your brain off for a few minutes, this will be a great time for you.
