Review of Drive (2011) by Trevor R — 06 Mar 2014
A romantic art film masquerading as a thriller, "Drive" features appropriately impactful violence with gorgeous cinematography and one of the best soundtracks in ages. The central metaphor is anything but subtle (He's got a scorpion right there on his jacket!), but it's all pulled off with incredible style.
I'm rather indifferent to the villains of the piece (a hammy Ron Perlman and the deliberately against-type Albert Brooks), but Gosling, Mulligan, and Isaac are great.
