Review of Drive (2011) by Ankur B — 17 Jun 2014
You don't win the Palme D'or at the Cannes Film Festival unless you create an exceptional masterpiece, which Nicholas Winding Refn has thoroughly achieved. This spectacular art house revelation has Ryan Gosling on impressive form, who is backed with the best ensemble cast I've had the pleasure of witnessing for a while.
The tale of a dream turning into a nightmare is brilliantly told by Refn, whose unique ability to craft a scene out of nothing escalates Drive to heights that have never been achieved by an art house film.
Along with immaculate editing, perfect cinematography, and a futuristic soundtrack, Drive represents the very best the independent scene has to offer.
