Review of Drive (2011) by Raji K — 06 Apr 2016
Drive on paper is not much. Ryan Gosling is a stunt driver and mechanic that happens to do a couple of heists on the side. Although he is not the most honest character, its clear he has good intentions and wants to use his excellent skills as a driver for good.
He falls for his neighbor and in attempt to help them out he gets involved in a heist that pulls him into the mob. As things spiral out of his control hes forced to take matters into his own hands. Drive does not have the most original story, characters or themes, but what it excels in is direction.
Nicolas Winding Refn stylish and suspense-fully tells an average story line with minimal dialogue, no forced action and a tinge of romance. The violence is not frequent, but it is intense and in your face.
The movie also contains a great soundtrack that fits the theme of the movie as well.
