Review of Drive (2011) by Anthony L — 14 Dec 2013
It was one of the hardest decisions choosing either "Drive or "Midnight in Paris". They were both great films but I picked "Drive" as my favorite film of the year. In the first 45 minutes, "The Driver"(Ryan Gosling) almost never talks.
He is first known as a mysterious but kind individual. But the point where the film gets really interesting is the scene where you start seeing the true "Driver". This film reminds me immensely of Martin Scorsese's "Taxi Driver".
The character is a hero, yet he is a villain. Drive is so beautifully directed and Carey Mulligan and Ryan Gosling give the performances of their careers. This film takes you back to the 80's with not only with it's classic film noir style but also with it's mysterious and dark soundtrack.
