Review of Drinking Buddies (2013) by Kj P — 05 Sep 2013
"Drinking Buddies" follows two couples as they begin to fall for each others other half's, and with a cast this enjoyable to watch on screen, this film is a delight to watch, even in it's slow moments.
It is a very small and low-budget picture with just the right amount of emotion to make it a great film, but the ending is a bit of a letdown. The film builds relationships unlike any film in 2013, but the end result just feels unfinished and left me a little unsatisfied.
The script is well-written and the chemistry between everyone is fantastic. We even get an A-list cameo from Jason Sudeikis which was nice to see. The direction is simple and the editor really had an easy job assembling this film together, and it shows in the final product.
It is nothing to scream Oscar about, but it is a very nice little film that may even make you tear up once or twice. Everything feels very raw and the film does not hold anything back when it comes to true relationships.
I had a really good time watching this film. Easily one of the best indie films I've seen this year so far.
