Review of Drinking Buddies (2013) by Greebs — 19 Dec 2014
The film has great performances by a very talented cast - in particular, Olivia Wilde, Jake Johnson and Anna Kendrick turn in really good work, and the style of the film - apparently called 'mumblecore' - makes it feel like we are witnessing actual conversations between real people.
The downside to this is .. there's very little plot, no traditional character arcs, and at the end of the film, I was left wondering what I'd just seen. I enjoyed it all - but I'm not sure there's much "there" there. A fun film if you go in with the right expectations, but for those expecting a traditional film, this might be a disappointment.
