Review of Drillbit Taylor (2008) by Elena S — 28 Jul 2010
A fairly average high school comedy with some quite amusing moments. Owen Wilson is 'Drillbit' Taylor - a dropout hired by a group of high school children to protect them from a bully (Alex Frost) - this is essentially the main thrust of the story but there is the obligatory emotional journey and side-line romance story.
There are some good performances, particularly by the three youngsters who really gel as a group of actors. There are some fantastic fight scenes but this isn't enough to drag this film out of the generally average screwball buddy comedy.
A few good laughs, and few impressive bits of fight choreography but ultimately an average film in every way.
