What a wildly uneven comedy. One one hand, there's some good one-liners, and Owen Wilson, Danny McBride, and a couple supporting players are really funny. However, this is countered by the three main characters, authentically-young high school students who are mostly unfunny and uninteresting carbon copies of the kids from Superbad.
In fact, that's a movie that repeatedly comes to mind during Drillbit Taylor, as the majority of the film is very generic and just not that funny.
