Review of Drillbit Taylor (2008) by Adam S — 04 Mar 2013
For every successful comedy that has the name Judd Apatow attached, there seems to be a number of duds. "Drillbit Taylor" is one of his bigger duds in my opinion.
Owen Wilson is the sole beacon of light, despite the film having big name involvements both behind the camera (Apatow, Seth Rogen, John Hughes) and in front of it (Leslie Mann, Danny McBride).
Most of the jokes manage to fall flat, particularly the overly familiar ones regarding the bullies. There's one or two moments that will bring out a chuckle, but most of the time, this is a bore. And comedies should never be a bore.
