Review of Drifting Clouds (1996) by Nabanita S — 15 May 2012
Kaurismaki uses his trademark understated approach to narrate a story of a middle aged couple going through financial meltdown and creates a strange cocktail of despair, hope and humor. Even though the film charts the journey of its characters into a sudden downturn, it never weighs heavy on the heart and always hints at some distant hope, a commendable feat at its own.
