Dredd is a fine example of a good violent action thriller remake. This film should be viewed as an action film by all means. It's violent action scenes compensate for the lack of drama very well. The visuals are decent, although at some point, the slow motion scenes are ridiculous to watch. This film is a lot lot better compared to the 1995 film Judge Dredd. It was barely watchable for one time and after that it's just a pretty waste. This film is solid, but I wish that it would have been better had they at least shown Carl Urban's face once. Anyway his voice is good and Olivia Thirlby's acting is good. A difference of this film from the usual action potboilers is that it places no macho men or steroid over-dozed figures as the main villain, but places Lena Headey and she is quite good at her role.
