Review of Dreamgirls (2006) by Joshua L — 07 Feb 2012
Hardly oscar worthy performance at all. Token black actors telling a token music story for black people. The songs were great though a little long and over-done. Jamie Foxx and Beyonce Knowles are good, Eddie Murphy is fabulous in unusually serious role and Jennifer Hudson well.
.. she honestly, hardly deserves a mention let alone an academy award. To play a black singing female with an attitude really doesn't take much acting ability, plus she's really one of the light weights of the film being left out of lot of it.
I see Jennifer Hudson as another Whitney Houston of th film world, one good film, can sing but will ultimatley go nowhere in the film industry. Quote me if I wrong and I'll admit defeat, but I think there's a lot of jaded and confused people out there who mistake singing for acting.
