Review of Dreamgirls (2006) by Chris K — 10 May 2012
It's clear from the beginning that this movie centers around Jennifer Hudson and she takes the role head-on and smashes it. Beyonce and Anika Noni do a good job with their respectively small storylines, and Eddie Murphy shines as a depressed, washed-up James Brown wannabe.
It would've been better played as a straight movie instead of a musical though, seeing as how they was enough music in the story already without them singing dialogue.
