Review of Dreamgirls (2006) by Stevea — 03 Jan 2007

I loved the movie for the first half, when it was a drama about music. Then, towards the middle, it turned into a musical, and the movie lost steam for me. The last half was also long and seemed to meander some.

Hudson gave a great performance, but I thought her character was unpleasant (she just seemed like a bully to me). Everyone else in the movie did well, also. I'm hoping this isn't Beyonce's Evita.

Despite crappy acting in the past, she shows a lot of growth and potential in this movie.
