Review of Dreamgirls (2006) by Rafael T — 22 Nov 2010
I have to admit, this it is my favorite musical ever... I re-watched again last night for like the 10th time now... It still rocks me, Though I am more a rock-metal kind of guy, this movie just gets me always.
The plot it's not mindblowing, it is just a nice story done in a very sharp and simple way, with simple, real characters, and good acting in general. With an oscar winning performance by hudson and a oscar worthy one by Eddie Murphy (who I think it's one of the most interesting characters and aspects of this film).
Now the musical... that's where the deal sells, for me time just fly trough this movie, from one musical piece to other, great singing, great songs, great performances, Great artistic direction. Just a great whole.
Well, enough said, this it's just my opinion, and i'm generally not a musical type of guy, specially this type of music, but this one it just manages to appeal to me in so many ways I just recommended it to everyone all the time.
So if you haven't yet, go and check it out. It's great.
