Review of Dreamgirls (2006) by Leighton T — 20 May 2011
Bill Condon does a great job here, even making the second half less boring than it should be. The cast is terrific: Jamie Foxx is slimy and perfect in his role as Curtis, Eddie Murphy is awesome (who knew he could hit those high notes?), Jennifer Hudson surprises with attitude and a version of "And I'm Tell You.
.." that brings down the house, and Beyonce shows actual acting prowess especially in some key scenes towards the end. The sets and costumes are amazing, and what it lacks for drama, it makes up with attitude.
