Review of Dreamer: Inspired By a True Story (2005) by Matt A — 12 Jul 2007
Harmless, predictable, family-friendly movie with a good warm and fuzzy ending.
Nothing that happens in this film comes as a surprise. You can see the stereotypes playing themselves out in the first two minutes. This is very much in the vein of every underdog sports movie from Hoosiers to Rudy to The Mighty Ducks.
That being said, the performances were good--particularly Dakota Fanning, whose ability to connect to a character is unrivaled by any child actress in film history.
There is mothing particularly amazing about this film, nor is there anything particularly bad about this film. It just is.
