Review of Dreamcatcher (2003) by Branden D — 10 Jun 2010
A brilliant and creepy Stephen King adaptation with some fine acting from a terrific cast. Jason Lee and Tom Sizemore were my favorites here, they both stole each scene they were in. Damien Lewis is phenomenal as the lead, Thomas Jane is an actor who always makes a convincing hero, and Timothy Olyphant is fantastic and adds some great comic relief much like Jason Lee's character.
Donnie Wahlberg is brilliant in what I think is the most challenging role in the film. Of course Morgan Freeman is superb as a corrupt general. Dreamcatcher is my favorite of all the Stephen King horror adaptations and it's a masterpiece of the horror genre.
There are some truly eerie and unsettling scenes in this film, and Lee has brilliant comic timing. I love this film because not only is it creepy and funny, but it's also emotional and powerful. Dreamcatcher is a classic.
Lawrence Kasdan is a fantastic director.
