Review of Dreamcatcher (2003) by Julian T — 13 Dec 2011
A mediocre Stephen King adaptation. Not one of King's better stories, but it offers up some decent pluses.
Plenty of problems still. The acting is mediocre at best, as talents such as Freeman, Jane, Sizemore and Olyphant all pretty much phone this one in. The script is garbage; unnatural in every way. The plot is over complicated and hard to follow.
Even with its flaws, this is a decent movie. Original creatures and concepts (such as the scenes taking place in Damian Lewis's mind being chased by Mr. Grey) and several cringe-worthy moments (the bathroom scene) turn a slightly below average film into a decent horror flick.
