Review of Dreamcatcher (2003) by Colson V — 24 May 2010
Dreamcatcher starts out as a conveluted and crazy mess that is somehow morbidly entertaining, but once it finally starts getting serious and the shit starts to hit the fan, it just becomes conveluted, crazy and a definite mess. It's a tedious experience that left me with questions without answers. Not questions concerning the plot, but questiong cosidering the situation.
"How can you make a movie about an alien posing as a retarded person that must fight off other aliens that come out of people's buttholes tedious and uninteresting?".
I'm shocked that such a fascinatingly absurd concept was destroyed to make way for some Twilight Zone-esque story on LSD.
Whether intentional or not, Lawrence Kasdan (Writer of Raiders of the Lost Ark. Yes, I'm being serious.) has created a cinematic abortion filled with unconceivable sequences of pure randomness. Yes, the first hour is painless fun but once these characters start to figure out what is going on, it becomes boring and pointless.
Althought I must give credit where credit is due, after watching Dreamcatcher, I will always shut the toilet seat down when I'm finished with my business....
