Review of Dream Work (2001) by Guido P — 14 Sep 2008
A 'sequel' of sorts to Outer Space, this entry differs somewhat in that it does not have the same sort of 'vertigo' exhibited by its precursor. It's not trying to, though. The point here is different: a movement towards constant layering within the same shot.
A single frame can pack three concurrent visual layers of storytelling, as faces, events, people, strips of dialogue, places, and other images, litter the feverish mind of a woman as she dreams away a night, as well as the space of the movie-canvas.
