Review of Dread (2009) by Warren W — 13 Jan 2011
Anthony DiBlasi ... lots of credits, cool ones, on the IMDB .. only two for directing, This was one of them.
After some not to deep research it's obvious he loves horror and learns from those he works with.
Was not able to capture Barker like Kitamura who directed Meat Train a year earlier which DiBlasi produced but he sure tried.
What we would call the boring bits seemed a cakewalk for Kitamura in Meat Train were a struggle at least for me to get through in DiBlasis take on Clive Barkers Dread.
Boring seemed boring not surreal and the story unfamiliar even though I read it. I'm not taking away from the film for that though. It did it's job. Entertained me although I shouldn't publically admit that.
That all being said when you make a short into a full obviously that takes some work ... and when it got to when it counted this movie kinda of grossed me out. Freaked me out a bit. Which I suppose is appropriate.
Well worth sitting through.
Dubz.
