Review of Dread (2009) by Paige M — 07 Nov 2010
Despite the fact that this film put my boyfriend to sleep, I was riveted to the screen throughout the 1h48m runtime. DREAD is chilling, but not based on bloodshed or violence--the film utilizes drawn out suspense and viewers' curiosity to deliver a disturbing message about the nature of mankind, the limits that a person may be pushed to, and ultimately the question of our own mortality.
If you like the film then I highly recommend watching the special features on the DVD as well - there's some great interviews with the main cast, as well as a great deal of commentary from both Clive Barker and director Anthony DiBlasi, who has brought several of Barker's short stories to the big screen.
