Review of Dragon Tiger Gate (2006) by Aslyn E — 15 Oct 2007
This film starts off good with two great action sequences. Like a lot of kung fu films it then tries to concentrate on a tired plot, forgetting that the promise of action (from Donnie Yen) was the main draw in the first place.
Donnie Yen, despite being waaay too old for his haircut, is on top form throughout and remains the film's one redeeming factor. The final action scene is either amazing or dreadful depending on your taste in kung fu flicks (I hated it, I'm not a big fan of OTT wirework and special effects trying to 'sex up' for the masses).
