Review of Dragon: The Bruce Lee Story (1993) by Jared S — 31 Dec 2007
A strangely discursive biopic memorializing a highly undiscursive life. The editing and script leave much to be desired--it plays more like a series of segueless chapters, right down to the fadeouts to signal the divisions.
The main unifying theme appears to be "damn, but people were so racist in the 1960's." Which is probably true, but doesn't necessarily need to be shoved in the viewer's face every five minutes.
But J.S. Lee brings the unlikely combination of gravamen and wit to his title role and rescues the film from obscurity, deftly assisted by leading lady Lauren Holly: Better acting than the rest of the project deserved.
