Review of Dragon Ball Z: Resurrection 'F' (2015) by Thequietgamer — 04 Nov 2015
An old villain returns in a movie that's an improvement on Dragon Ball Z's recent resurrection "Battle of Gods." It's much more action packed, marks the return of some classic characters, and adds even more powered up forms that fans can obsess over.
Yes, it's another chapter that will get fans even more excited for the future of this series. Akira Toriyama shows he's interested in exploring new themes with his stories. There are a few moments where the writing has us believe he might actually be interested in having his characters actually learn something from battles outside of just how much stronger they can get.
The missing humor element from the previous movie is a bit disappointing, but it more than makes up for it by being action packed. Fights look great and there are more of them this time around. There's plenty of flash and fan favorite moves on display. Side-characters like Krillin and Gohan actually make themselves useful for once.
It really is a step up from the already great Battle of Gods in just about every way. The inclusion of Beerus here seems to only serve the purpose of reminding us that this is a sequel. Personally I hope they don't continue to have him around. His personality just consists of him threatening to destroy the earth in order to manipulate our heroes. It makes him unbearable. I hope he gets ditched into the realm of forgotten DBZ characters.
It's an all around blast for DBZ fans. Those unfamiliar with the material will probably be lost, but those of us who have followed the stories of this series are in for a treat. With fantastic new character designs, a battle with a classic villain, and great action scenes any fan would be bereft to miss this.
I give Resurrection 'F' a 9.1/10.
