Review of Dracula Untold (2014) by Jak-Luke S — 23 Jul 2017
Plot wise I rather enjoy the beginning of Vlad's descent into the monster we know but the reasons behind said transformation for love irritates me beyond believe. I much prefer the utter villain and monster in Coppola's version.
The film looks dull throughout and incredibly unimaginative, with poor CGI and script that is borderline horrific. The performances are mixed, Evans is the standout. He plays the family man and conflicted king well, his supporting cast not so much.
Dance is strong and he feels like a great homage to Lugosi but both Cooper and Gadon do nothing, especially the former who I felt was miscast.
