Review of Dracula Untold (2014) by Matt A — 27 Jan 2015
This is one of those films that is not really worth watching in the cinema and waiting for on Netflix. Not that that's a bad thing but its one of those films that you can waste 90 minutes of and not think much on it after its finished.
Its dumb fun. The effects and action are OK, if a little sparse and Luke Evans is reliable as Vlad the Impaler. Its not a film that will win any awards for originality. I did like how this Dracula was a lot more aggressive and his dark powers were very brutal but it needed gore to be more effective.
No blood or gore in a vampire film is a cardinal sin. They have left it open for a sequel so hopefully they can up the ante a little, or maybe it will be a straight to DVD affair...
