Review of Dracula Untold (2014) by Joseph O — 29 Jun 2015
This is pretty much a reinterpretation style story of how Dracula (Vlad the Impaler IRL) became the "monster" the old tales speak of. Unfortunately, it's a rather ponderous, curiously tension devoid and rather lackluster effort for the most part. Sure it's neat seeing Vlad tear an entire army apart by himself, but there isn't a lot of interest or real character building. Most of the "Turkish" enemies are basically presented to be the equivalent of faceless cartoon villains who didn't even get a name tag.
By far the most annoying thing? The way the movie actually ends and sets itself up for a potential sequel (if it ever gets there) was far more interesting than the actual movie itself!
