Review of Dracula Untold (2014) by Mloy X — 31 Jan 2016
Master Vampire (Charles Dance): I have been waiting an eternity for a man of your strength to arrive.
But what kind of man crawls into his own grave in search of hope?
Vlad (Luke Evans): A desperate one.
It is unfortunate that this film has such a poor rating because it actually wasn't that bad, especially given that the cast lacked any really well known A-list actors; but Ithought the entire cast did a great job considering. So, I would definitely give props to Luke Evans (Dracula) and Dominic Cooper (Mehmed) for playing their respective roles with such commitment. I'm so tickled that veteran actor Charles Dance (who played a brilliant Tywin Lannister on Games of Thrones) played the terrifyingly menacing Master Vampire with the same level of regal and intimidation as he did with Tywin; no one else could've given the same lasting impression with such a brief appearance but he owned every minute he was on screen. I also have to give this film props for trying to reinventing an old, classic (not to mention well-known) lore and giving it a refreshing new twist. So overall, this film wasn't bad at all; I mean, sure it's not "War & Peace" but it was entertaining nonetheless.
