Review of Dracula: Prince of Darkness (1966) by Andrea F — 30 Jul 2008
A dramatic step down from the original Hammer Dracula, this stodgy and washed-out haunted-house/vampire film has annoying lead characters, and the whole thing goes downhill after an otherwise pretty good first forty-five minutes or so.
Apparently Lee preferred not to speak in the movie as he thought the lines in the script were laughably bad, but it's no better when he appears at random and says nothing; he seems more like a zombie than a vampire and his robotic nature eliminates any suspense or menace.
