Review of Dracula: Prince of Darkness (1966) by Blais E — 30 Oct 2010
Hammer's superb first sequel to their earlier Chris Lee/Drac smash-hit, "The Horror of Dracula", and I actually consider it superior to the original. Strangely, Lee is given no dialogue here (Not that he really needs it-his Dracula is extremely effective with or without it-); the real star of the film is the beauteous flame-haired Barbara Shelley in a fantastically-multifaceted role as Victorian prude Helen who later becomes the most viciously-animalistic & bloodthirsty Vampiress in screen history.
A marvelously worthy follow-up to the first installment.
