Review of Dracula 2000 (2000) by Lunar Wolf {A.k.a Burrito} — 07 Jun 2008
This is another film, like others I admire, which is shoddy on a first watch but is actually rather impressive after another viewing or two. The whole background of Dracula being Judas is impressive, and the fight scenes aren?t half bad for a movie like this with a budget like this.
Gerard Butler gives his first truly great performance as the mysteriously handsome and elusive Dracula, and Jonny Lee Miller gets his first moment in a major role and does not disappoint. Having a soft spot for low budget movies may make me be biased about this, but there is no denying that it is a movie that could have been even greater had it been given more attention and a bigger budget.
All in all though, it?s a horror with all the modern touches and the first performances of many actors who would later go on to do great things.
