Review of Dr. Who and the Daleks (1965) by Joseph D — 28 Sep 2018
Well, I finally got to see a Dr Who product. Unfortunately, it isn't..."good"...by any stretch, & some of the acting was atrocious. But the Daleks looked good & sounded unsettling, & if they'd been a bit smarter, they'd have been really scary. Bottom line, it was lame, but in a good way.
Fun facts: this 1965 gem is based on the William Hartnell era Who serial "The Daleks". Also, in the novelisation of the Doctor Who episode The Day of the Doctor, Kate Stewart reveals to Clara Oswald that the movies were inspired by the Doctor's actual adventures, that the Doctor loaned Peter Cushing (who played the doctor in the films as well as Moff Tarkin in Star Wars (ep4)) one of his coats and that the two were "great friends".
As a movie, I can only give it 2 stars outta 5, but as a bit of Dr Who silliness, I could bump it up to 3...maybe 3.5.
