Review of Dr. Strangelove or: How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Bomb (1964) by Kevin M — 20 May 2012
This film is a masterpiece. If you allow yourself to separate from the humanity of it, the Cold War was probably the most absurd chapter in human history. Luckily Kubrick understood this and gave us something brilliant. Sellers is amazing, as usual. The phone call between the president and the Russian premier is hysterical.
The most interesting thing about this movie is the fact that the suspense does build up the closer the plane gets to dropping the bomb. It takes talent like Kubrick to first paint that dark curtain and then shine a light on how silly it all is. This is absolutely one of my favourite films.
