Review of Dr. Strangelove or: How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Bomb (1964) by Michael M — 08 Oct 2018
With a witty screenplay, a fantastic ensemble, a fantastic Peter Sellers performance, and the outrageous direction by Stanley Kubrick this is the greatest satire of all time. While the title may be misleading since Strangelove is only on screen for about 10 minutes but what a glorious ten minutes it is.
But Sellers plays both the titular character, the president, and Lionel Mandrake with each performance being just as great as the last. Slim Pickens gives a stellar performance as general Kong who really loves the bomb.
All in all Kubrick makes the cold war seem like kindergarteners fighting over a ball during recess.
