I don't think I've seen a satire made exactly for its time, and becoming a critically lauded success. The cinematography, acting, script, and underlying themes, all in total, makes for the one of the smartest, and oddly blackest of black comedies.
Stanley Kubrick is, in my personal opinion, the greatest filmmaker of the late 20th century.
