Review of Dr. Strangelove or: How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Bomb (1964) by Briian S — 07 Mar 2012
This movie is so brilliantly executed in every way imaginable. From its writing to its visuals and particularly its acting. Peter Sellars play three unique roles perfectly, and George C. Scott has super funny facial expressions.
I often find older comedies to be dated, Im not a big fan of The Pink Panther movies and I'm not a Charlie Chaplin fan. Yet when I saw this, I was blown away by how hilarious and biting this movie remains.
It's really funny, and it's able to stand the test of time because it was so far ahead of its time. Kubrick was able to look at the ridiculous situation the world got itself into, and instead of getting caught up in it, he stood aside and laughed at it.
This is easily one of the best movies of all time, and perhaps the smartest comedy of all time.
