Review of Dr. Strangelove or: How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Bomb (1964) by Brandon W — 31 Jan 2016
In a career of brilliant films, this is probably Kubrick's best. The satire is timeless even if some of the film's concerns have dated. Sellers is brilliant and George C Scott shows a real knack for comedy.
It's a brilliant film indeed that can make us laugh at our own self-induced demise. After all, there is something terribly, horribly funny about knowing our fate lies in the hands of lunatics, ideologues, and plain old-fasioned dumbasses.
If you don't agree with that statement, you probably won't 'get' the humor of this classic film. Watch it anyway though.
