Review of Dr. No (1962) by Caleb F — 07 Jan 2012
The first James Bond film is an interesting look at the beginning of a beloved action character. The action is very tame compared to today, but that is expected. The story is a tad boring though. I found myself losing interest in the story.
I think that is because sean connery is so good as bond. Anytime that he is not on screen the movie loses all of its steam. The love interest is far less interesting than Vesper (who I consider to be the best bond girl of the films I've seen so far).
The villain is forgettable and absent for nearly the entire film. It is hard to see the necessity of his presence in the film at all. Sean's performance of James Bond coupled with the nostalgia factor is what give this bond film its three stars.
