Review of Dr. No (1962) by Bradley W — 11 Jul 2012
Dr. No is a splendid first film to one of the most legendary film series of all time. Ian Flemming's novel is turned into a fun and exciting film that has started a series of movies with one of the best heroes of all time, James Bond.
You would have to go a thousand miles to find someone who doesn't know James Bond, and without this great first film we wouldn't know who he was. I did find the film very slow at times and a little ridiculous compared to other thrillers of its time, however I still loved it and was a huge fan.
Sean Connery will always be seen as a great actor, but I think his true popularity didn't begin until he became the most famous spy of all time. he was great in this film and his memorable quotes wouldn't have been the same without him.
Ursula Andress was the first "Bond girl" and surprisingly she never really felt annoying to me, maybe it was because of the swimsuit but who knows. Dr. No was the beginning of one of the best film series of all time, and although I don't find it perfect, I do find it incredibly cool and entertaining.
