Review of Dr. No (1962) by Scott A — 16 Mar 2013
I guess it was decent, but compared to the Craig Bond films, I actually felt it was really boring. I mean, we don't even meet the BOND GIRL until after an hour into the film and Dr. No, the villain no less, doesn't show up until less than 20 minutes before the film ends.
I will say a few scenes had me laughing. I love that Bond knows he's being set up by a woman and still takes the time to have sex with her before letting her know he knows. Or the tarantula scene, where it is so badly obvious Connery is behind glass.
Andress is simply one of the most stunning women I have ever seen. When she was onscreen, the film was great. Sadly, it isn't much.
I also didn't think it set up other Bond alum like M, Q or Moneypenny very well either.
Film also seemed to lack a full score, as most of the film was no background noise, which made for a lot of talking.
