Review of Dr. No (1962) by Raji K — 10 Jan 2014
With Dr No. we have the beginning of the one and only James Bond. Bond is set on a murder investigation which leads to the whereabouts of a mysterious area known as Crab Key, and an even more mysterious person in SPECTRE's Dr. No. Dr. No is a great start to the franchise in that we have a larger than life villain, fun action and one of the best Bond girls in the series.
Bond Girl - 5/5.
Honey Ryder is one of the best in the series and easily sets the mark for the rest in the series.
Gadgets - 0/5.
This film does not have any real gadgets to speak of aside from the communications devices.
Villains - 4/5.
Dr. No is a really good introductory villain to the series. The villains are always eccentric and insane, but at the same time sophisticated and without any sort of barbaric or mercenary like thoughts. They demand respect, but also respect their opposition.
Music 5/5.
Iconic theme song to start the series that will always be identifiable.
