Review of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde (1941) by Becky A — 04 Sep 2007
I think Jekyll and Hyde is an interesting story. I watched this film first before reading the book, and I was surprised that originally there were no love interests in the book. The film is a lot different from the book, but I think if any of the films were made exactly like the book, it would be a bit boring, being that the story starts out from the point of a view of a lawyer.
But here in the film, it focuses on Jekyll as the main character and on Hyde, as the villain. Ingrid Bergman is such a great actress. She has always been good at acting emotinally distressed. Oh, and Spencer Tracy as Hyde did a rather good job.
I like it when there's a well played villain in a film. This film has one of them.
