Review of Downsizing (2017) by Stephen O — 28 Jan 2018
I watched it because the concept was interesting. The execution was terrible. It's as if they came up with the idea then had a short time thereafter to complete the film. As others have said, once he is downsized the plot has very little to with being downsized.
There are big inconsistencies. There's all these poor people living in the small world with no real explanation why that is so. He goes visiting places like Norway with mountains and rivers which are proportionate to them, so were these placed created especially by them for them or what.
Finally he ends up falling in love with this really annoying woman. I think Matt Damon's character was as confused as the viewer.
