Review of Downsizing (2017) by Richard S — 13 Jan 2018
Downsizing is set in an overpopulated future where scientists have found the perfect solution. The solution involves shrinking the ever increasing population down to miniature size to live in small cities protected in a large warehouse.
It's partly a surreal comedy, partly environmental / political warning about our impending doom should we continue down the path we are on. The film looked great and was fairly enjoyable but don't go expecting any high jinks from classic sci-fi such as The Incredible Shrinking Man, there are no epic battles with giant spiders in this movie.
Despite the lack of giant spiders I thought Matt Damon did a pretty decent job in the lead, learning to cope in his new world somewhat alone after his wife changes her mind at the last minute.
