Review of Downsizing (2017) by Spanky — 11 Nov 2018
This is definitely Al Gore's wet dream movie. What started out as a pleasant, unique and original film of downsizing turned into a depressing political and dark movie halfway through. Just like Elysium, Matt Damon LOVES to be in Liberal/Leftist political movies that excoriate the middle class and well to do over poor, downtrodden Hispanic immigrants.
Add on top of that, humanity's selfish total destruction of the planet and you've got yourself a typical Hollywood social message crammed down your throat. My wife and I really enjoyed the unique first part, which is why it has two stars.
The rest of the film brought it down.
