Review of Downfall (2004) by Sean L — 02 Nov 2009
It took me a long time to get to this because you have to be in a certain mood to watch a two and a half hour subtitled film about Hitler. However, once I finally sat down to watch it I was immediately engrossed and stayed engrossed till the end.
The film doesn't have much of a structure, but the story is so elaborate and fascinating, that it is completely compelling. Bruno Ganz gives one of the most incredible performances I have ever seen in a movie, and every other member of the cast is able to hold their own.
This is easily one of the best films of recent years.
