Review of Downfall (2004) by Philip P — 08 Nov 2009
A charismatic lunatic and a crackpot ideology both come to an end in a wet ditch, covered in gasoline. It's quite a fall. And what we see is that for all his cruelty, Hitler was genuinely loved by the people around him, and he was utterly broken and desperate in his final hours.
It doesn't elicit much sympathy, but it does make him a human being.
